Sustainable South Korean label young n sang has presented its Spring/Summer 2020 collection as part of this season’s Helsinki Fashion Week. young n sang has created a number of bold, standout pieces from repurposed secondhand clothing in this collection.
The brand was founded by the couple Youngshin and Sanglim in 2017, who both studied Fashion Design at Savannah College of Art and Design in the USA. In 2015, the duo were winners of the Council of Fashion Designers of America prize.
The looks are inspired by South Korean street vendors and fuse traditional garments with a contemporary streetwear aesthetic. Notable pieces include the blue trucker jacket alongside the baggy two-tone slacks, which combine elements of cargo pants with the normalities of suit pants.
Other pieces such as the warped black corduroy pants once again fuse streetwear with classic garments, while the green and pink printed long sleeve brings young n sang back to its roots. Rounding off its SS20 lookbook is a selection of tactically-inspired jewelry, with accessories such as green and blue carabiner-like necklace and metal trouser links adding a utilitarian touch, as well as shoe covers that double as mops.
