Millions of people across the globe tuned in to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last year. The couple tied the knot in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in May 2018, and since they exchanged vows details of their big day have been big news – from the fact that Harry helped Meghan to pick her tiara to the sweet thing he did for her on the morning of their wedding.
The pair moved to Frogmore Cottage shortly afterwards and now live there with their first child, baby Archie Harrison, but according to new reports the Duke and Duchess of Sussex requested to live elsewhere – but the Queen said no.
The Sunday Times claims that Harry and Meghan asked the monarch if they could live at Windsor Castle, but the report by Rosa Nikkah states: ‘The couple are understood to have set their hearts at first on Windsor Castle, and are believed to have asked the Queen if living quarters could be made available after their marriage.’
Hugo Vickers told The Express that it may not have been ‘entirely appropriate’, writing: ‘There are empty bedrooms and suites in the private apartments within Windsor Castle which the Sussexes may have had their eye on, or perhaps some former living quarters in the castle grounds converted into other things.
‘But I can see how it might not be entirely appropriate to have a young family living there.’
However, the Sussexes have really made Frogmore Cottage their own since moving there, reportedly installing a yoga studio, grand fireplaces and ‘an elaborate Gone With The Wind-style double staircase’.
