Berlin Fashion Week has now come to a close, and though many designers were showing their spring/summer 2020 collections, one show in particular stood out.
First off, the new Marc Cain collection was a literal burst of colours, with a light show to accompany the most colourful and bold creations yet, inspired by Namibia.
The team explained, ‘We tried to transfer the beautiful colour schemes and light effects on the catwalk and the collection, which models like Kenya Kinski-Jones and Carolin Winberg have presented wonderfully. The show was dedicated to the motto “Colours In Motion”’.
These translated into soft neon shades and skilfully placed prints, such as checks and the brand’s iconic leo print, on beautifully structured shirt dresses, blazers and softer, more feminine pieces.
The staging was just as exciting, thanks to a unique play of light and colours projected on 15m-long thread curtains around the whole location as well as a 56m long zebra-striped catwalk where models such as Caroline Winberg, Kris Gottschalk and Kenya Kinski-Jones, the daughter of Nastassja Kinski and Quincy Jones walked.
Secondly, the reason this was so different for the brand is that it was the first time the collection was presented by the design team as a collective as opposed to one designer.
During the finally, the while team came out to greet the crowds, and following the show, they revealed in a statement, ‘The team of Marc Cain has been very proud to present the show in Berlin as a unit.’
They received a well deserved standing ovation.
