Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent or buy for a certain dollar amount in various LA ’hoods. We’ve found five homes and condos within $10,000 of today’s price: $650,000.

Hollywood

The best part of high-rise living? The views. The listing for this two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in the Hollywood Versailles Tower promises 180-degree views, from the ocean to the hills. The sleek midcentury tower, formerly home to Tara Reid, according to Variety, is located at Hollywood and La Brea and comes with valet, a doorman, gym, and heated pool. The unit that’s up for grabs has a balcony, updated kitchen, and in-unit washer and dryer. Sold five years ago for $467,500, today’s asking price is $649,000. But brace yourself: HOA dues are $932 per month.

San Pedro

This three-bedroom house is walking distance to Brouwerij West, San Pedro Fish Market, and all of the other activity along the waterfront, but offers lots of reasons to stay home. The 5,001-square-foot property is populated with passion fruit, lemon, lime, sour cherry, and peach trees, along with a couple of raised garden beds. The backyard also has space for outdoor grilling and dining. Enclosed in a white picket fence, the dwelling was built in 1900 but updated in 2015. Last sold in $450,000, it’s on the market now for $659,000.

Hancock Park

Described as “one of the most elegant of the courts” by Courtyard Housing in Los Angeles, Il Borghese is stepped in Old Hollywood glamor. The 1929 Mediterranean-style courtyard complex holds 22 units, one of which is for sale. The one-bedroom features high ceilings, hardwood floors, moldings, a decorative fireplace mantle, wrought iron railings, and spectacular turquoise bathroom tile. Outdoor spaces are shared and include a rooftop deck with space for lounging and dining al fresco. The condo is listed for $660,000, with monthly HOA dues of $368.

Located in Wilshire Park, this two-bedroom is a top-floor corner unit in a 1990s complex. Coming in at 1,183 square feet, it holds two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a powder room at the entry. It features tall, angled ceilings and a contemporary kitchen with a pass-through window to the living room and dining room. There’s also in-unit washer and dryer. It’s asking $649,000, plus monthly HOA fees of $399.

Over on the Westside, this newly refinished condo offer easy access to the Expo Line, downtown Culver City, and Helms Bakery District. It holds two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 824 square feet. The contemporary kitchen features subway tile, gray shaker cabinets, and stainless steel appliances. It’s part of a complex built in 1978, and it’s listed for $649,000, with $290 monthly HOA dues.
