Drawing from nature once again, Vollebak recently crafted a new jacket inspired by the adaptive camouflage of the squid.
Dubbed the Black Squid Jacket, the fully waterproof and windproof outer shell mimics one of nature’s most mesmerizing innovations using lasers, resing and over 2 billion disruptively-structured microscopic glass spheres. The replicated biological survival mechanism makes the ski and snowboard jacket look like oil in dull light conditions but when exposed to light reflects an array of colors.
Composed of a 3-layer fabric made from polyester, the jacket is cut for extreme movement and features carefully designed functional details. Functional elements include two-way YKK zippers with rubberized pulls, a merino lined collar, an internal storm flap, internal zipped phone pocket, velcro cuffs and an independent movement ocean-racing marine hood.
