With the latest round of the Moncler Genius Project gathering pace as the year progresses, the Italian brand has revealed its latest release, this time coming from the brand’s core collection, named after year Moncler was founded, 1952. Designed by Moncler in-house creatives Veronica Leoni and Sergio Zambon, this year’s 2 Moncler 1952 collection boasts an impressive range of duvet-heavy products, including teddy-fleece parkas, uniform-like structured suits and longer silhouettes.
Each designer’s contributions contain individual twists on conventions and subtle touches that hark back to their own personal style. Leoni’s, for example, interprets the Moncler code with a blend of layering, materials and influences such as a vintage, biker-inspired aesthetic, complete with retro knit flares and patches designed in partnership with London brand Itchy Scratchy Patchy. Zambon’s contribution to the collection can be seen in the sleek, 70s influences present in the color palette and sophisticated sartorial elements that showcase a new, more relaxed interpretation of formality.
For this iteration Moncler presents new pieces created with luxury leather goods brand Valextra. Drawing inspiration from architecture, design and its Milan roots Valextra created a range of bags and accessories to accompany the forward-thinking outerwear that traditionally constitutes Moncler Genius collections.
