Jordan Peele‘s highly-anticipated Get Out followup Us is gearing up for its theatrical release next month, and to help hype up the film even more, a new international trailer for the project has been released.
Aimed for the Korean audience, the two-and-a-half-minute clip includes brand-new footage that has yet to be seen in previous trailers along with pull-quotes that seem to be taken directly from full reviews on the film, as opposed to articles about the footage unveiled thus far. Though the international trailer doesn’t reveal anything more about the film’s plot, the new imagery does hint at what’s to come, playing heavily on coincidences. "You know how sometimes things line up? Coincidences," Nyong’o’s character, Adelaide, says in the trailer. "Since we’ve been up here, they’ve been happening more and more. It’s like there’s this black cloud hanging over us."
The first trailer for Jordan Peele‘s latest horror film was shared on Christmas morning. Since then, fans have taken to social media to decipher the clues and motifs running throughout the trailer, adding their own theories on what Us is truly about.
Us releases March 22 and stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke from Black Panther and Elizabeth Moss from The Handmaid’s Tale. The film will make its SXSW debut two weeks earlier on March 8.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly Peele shared,
"I think the main idea that went into writing this film is that we’re our own worst enemy, and that idea created this monster, The Tethered. I wanted to forge this new mythology that explored our duality and the duality of the characters. To the actors, I knew this was the ultimate fun because who doesn’t want to play two roles in a movie; when you’re tired in one, you get to jump into the other. But I think what was a fun challenge for actors, was finding the connections between the characters and their counterparts."
