With Thome Browne recently dropping a chunky pair of brogues clad stripes of the national American colors, the New York-label has revealed yet another tri-toned garment under the current season of releases.
Animal motifs like wiener dogs, rabbits and elephants have always played a large role in Thom Browne pieces. The lineup of SS19 garments keeps this theme alive, and the label’s Patchwork Whale Appliqué Boxy T-shirt is a good example. Made with 3/4-length sleeves, the T-shirt features dropped shoulders and slightly rolled hems that offer a worn-in look. At the front is the whale motif, assembled together in frayed bits of fabric swatches that tatter along the illustration’s borders. Various patterns of solids and stripes are juxtaposed under a dark navy cotton base. As a finishing detail, the back collar is graced with Thom Browne’s signature grosgrain ripstop loop tab.
The piece is currently available at Lane Crawford and select retailers like HBX for $1,045 USD.
