In our new series How Did You Meet?, local couples tell us how they first hooked up.
When you see Trisha and Adrian together it’s hard to believe they almost never met. “We met on [Jewish dating website] JDate back in 2014 and I was so over online dating,” laments Trisha, who had given up on meeting anyone online after seeing the same profiles over and over. “Then a friend of mine called and said to give it one more try because she had just been to a wedding where the couple met online.”
Trisha finally decided to give it one last try and half-heartedly went back on JDate. “It was so funny because my father sent me an article on how to do the right dating profile and I realized I was doing everything wrong,” she recalls with a laugh. “My profile was too long so this time I just put a couple of lines, one photo and then Adrian sent me an email.”
After emailing and chatting by phone, they decided to meet. He brought her flowers on their first date and he immediately told her she had him at pastrami: “I fell in love with her when I found out she hand-cut pastrami at her family’s deli,” he says. A year later, they were married. Today they have two young children and a new burgeoning business called Daughter’s Deli.
