And we get it.
Being a royal has its perks – the fashion, the princes, the tiaras, the castles – but it definitely also has its drawbacks, from the end of privacy to the dreaded rumour mill.
No one knows this more than Meghan Markle, who has endured an endless stream of online bullying since becoming a Duchess – everything from a supposed feud with Kate Middleton to racist abuse via social media.
She in particular has faced a lot of rumours around her character, from claims that the palace staff have employed nasty nicknames for her like ‘Me-Gain’ to slander from her extended Markle family, with the rumours said to have angered Prince Harry.
This week, a sneak peek of a Meghan and Harry CBS special came out, seeing Gayle King speaking to Meghan’s friends about the Duchess of Sussex.
The clips in question show Meghan’s make up artist and friend, Daniel Martin, opening up about the rumours, tearing up as he talked about them.
‘What’s so frustrating is that you hear these stories and there’s no truth to them,’ Daniel explained in the clip. ’It’s not the same person. In the years I’ve known her, the years I’ve worked with her, she’s never had a diva fit, never.’
Meghan and Harry Plus One will air on Friday on CBS at 8 pm ET.
