Tacos | Tacos El Venado
Plus a party at Lasa in Chinatown, and lots of new food
Know your rights
L.A. Taco is back with some incredibly useful information in these hard times. The local blog has come out with a handy guide on knowing one’s rights during a possible ICE raid, both for restaurant employees and customers. Bonus points for the simple illustrations as well.
Celebration time
The great folks at Lasa are hosting Kato’s third anniversary party on Monday, August 26. The evening affair starts at 5:30 p.m. and should include a ton of great food and drink, plus a few surprises and a goodbye to Eater Young Gun Max Boonthanakit, who is moving to Asia to continue to work in high-end restaurants.
Found for all
Found Oyster bar is popping up at Tabula Rasa on Tuesday, August 27 starting at 5 p.m. Expect oysters of course, as well as tostadas, lobster rolls, and lots of wine.

Gross allegations
Lisa Vanderpump is fighting back against allegations that someone got horrifically sick at her restaurant SUR in West Hollywood. According to People Magazine, a woman has filed a lawsuit against the property, claiming that back in 2017 she got “intensely ill” from the food and began to throw up and defecate inside the restaurant itself. A co-owner denies the claim, saying they would have the incident captured on video if it were true.
Newcomer alert
Psy Street Kitchen has a new location at 9407 Pico Boulevard. The kosher restaurant focuses on burgers but offers a menu beyond beef and bun, so it should fight right into the Pico-Robertson neighborhood when it opens next month.
In the desert
Check out Las Vegas’ new Mama Rabbit, the mezcal bar opened by Guelaguetza co-owner Bricia Lopez. The place is bright, colorful, and sure to be a hit.
All new eats
The Blvd., located inside the Beverly Wilshire hotel, has a new menu to know about. The casual-ish spot works a menu that spans from risotto with uni to a $90 dry-aged ribeye.
