As someone who can barely handle NyQuil, I
wasn’t super keen to the CBD beauty trend when it first hit. Relaxation? Yes,
please. Any potential (and potentially made up) side effect to a topical
product that promises such? My overthinking mind had to pass.
Slowly, I was swayed. CBD baths proved to be
guaranteed eight-hour sleep insurance. CBD lotions left super stressful days a
bit easier to handle. And solid CBD rollers are literally the modern product the world has been missing.

But the last frontier—facial skin care—still
made me pause. My super sensitive skin tends to make me avoid any ingredient I
haven’t used before. Sounds cynical but, by this point, I know the unknown will
end up unearthing a pimple with its own Google Earth coordinates.
And then came Saint Jane’s Luxury Beauty Serum ($125). The brand launched at Sephora last week and, as the full circle of life would have it, it was started by a
former Sephora intern, Casey Georgeson, who also helped create some household
names like Marc
Jacobs Beauty and Elizabeth & James Nirvana, AND she has a not-so-side gig
as being the creative force behind wine brands such as Cupcake Vineyards. Bottom line: Georgeson is smart and is a big believer in the power of the hemp plant. (Early Sephora reviews even compare it to a "CBD version of the cult-classic Vintner’s Daughter.") Sold.
So I had
to try it. For starters, the packaging is LUXE—like black-and-gold,
keep-the-bottle-in-your-bathroom-forever luxe. Even better, the silky, antioxidant-packed serum
that’s inside is the kind of potion that can make skin look glowingly
amazing—it sinks right in, feels instantly calming and just gives off that vibe
of radiant wellness in a bottle.
Does the
solid 500 mgs of CBD erase all the stress and worries of the world? My stiff
soul is too uptight to be totally swayed—but, with the amazing results it delivers
literally overnight, even the tiniest hint of calm seems like an added bonus.
