Up-and-coming filmmakers often debut with a short, so if you’re the type who wants to know what’s next in cinema, L.A. Shorts Fest is here to help. In a single 92-minute seating, you’ll see seven films. Return to the Laemmle in NoHo on other evenings this week for totally different slates.
11th Annual Taste of Farmer’s Market

The Original Farmer’s Market, attached to the Grove, is a Los Angeles landmark. Celebrate its history and future at this tasting party, which includes samples of food and drink from a variety of vendors. Proceeds benefit the First-In Fire Foundation.
“Big Little Spookys” at UCB Maude Night
Wednesday, July 24
At Maude Night, UCB’s long-form sketch teams present half-hour plays. This week, the team known as Clapback takes a stab at HBO juggernaut Big Little Lies with this spookified send-up.
Mariachi Divas at Vincent Lugo Park

Enjoy a little evening music in the park from the all-female mariachi outfit Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea. The performance is free and family-friendly, presented as part of the Summer in San Gabriel series.
