Continuing to build its business off of counterfeit Supreme, Supreme Italia recently opened its second Shanghai flagship location.
This time around, the new location opts for an original design centered around the red and white synonymous with the real streetwear label. Defining elements of the location include the massive "Supreme" sign framed by illuminating vertical lines at the exterior and the skate ramp found inside. Images of the store that have made their way online quickly garnered reactions from fans of the actual brand.
Despite publicly admitting to creating bootleg goods, Supreme Italia has openly been building its business off the idea the that "Supreme NYC has no sales and marketing authorization in China, but Supreme Italia has obtained product sales and market authorizations in the Asia Pacific region (except Japan)." In a recent interview, James Jebbia revealed his thought on the counterfeiters saying, “the idea of legal fakes is a complete farce. It would be sad if a new generation thinks that’s actually legit. We don’t do a ton of press and we are quite quiet. These guys are taking full advantage of that.”
