Yohji Yamamoto‘s S’yte diffusion label aims to deliver affordable iterations of the Japanese master’s signature silhouettes, an accessible way for fans of the brand to purchase Yamamoto’s flowing balloon pants and generous shirting without tracking down the expensive mainline goods. S’yte’s latest effort is a collaboration with another Japanese icon, the horror manga author Junji Ito.
Touching on some of Junji Ito’s best known works, the collaborative effort yields shirts and a translucent tote emblazoned with imagery from Tomie and the iconic Uzumaki, with the latter’s signature spiral imagery accompanying the former’s titular succubus. Inverted colors disguise the gruesome spiral eyeball scene, while other designs show the spiral effects upon the hair of Uzumaki protagonist Kirie. Co-branding appears on the rear of the oversized long- and short-sleeved shirts, while the bag emblazons identical imagery on each side of the opaque plastic tote.
The collection hits Yohji Yamamoto’s international web store on August 14.
Most recently, Yamamoto’s Y’s sublabel teamed with New Era for bags, hats and a track suit.
