Heron Preston has recently collaborated with Levi’s on a Spring/Summer 2020 collection and now the brand is back with another range. Launching exclusively at SSENSE, the Heron Preston JUMP lineup features 12 unisex pieces made from upcycled parachutes. The designer released the following statement about the collection:
“Sustainability in design is the cornerstone of HP and working with upcycled materials is one of the ways that I action that message. I’ve used upcycled parachutes in the past and this JUMP capsule has allowed me to revisit that environmentally sustainable fabrication. I had a great time designing this collection with SSENSE and I’m excited and proud to share this.”
Taking inspiration from the materials themselves, the sustainable range is modeled after skydiving apparel. Colorblocked windbreakers featuring orange zip tags arrive in a bright red and orange colorway as well as a neutral grey and white. Totes and backpacks land in the same matching colorways, featuring black straps and orange patches with Heron Preston branding. The range also includes orange and red basketball-style shorts with an elastic waist and grey and white track pants that are made for lounging.
Of course, the collection wouldn’t be complete with a cozy black T-shirt and black hoodie. While these pieces are made from cotton, they also feature patches of parachute fabric like the rest of the products in the lineup. Every piece is stamped with a pink and red JUMP logo as well as text reading "Scrap parachute material, re-used as a patch," on the cotton products and "Decommission parachute, re-cut and updated," on the rest of the items. The text continues on as, "Due to the fabric used, unique imperfections and insignia from the parachutes may be noticeable."

To celebrate the launch of the collection, SSENSE will also host an art installation. The two-story pop-up shop and exhibit feature clusters of parachutes as well as the collection itself. At the launch, Heron Preston customized and handpainted Nike Air Force 1 sneakers. Take a look at the Instagram posts below.
