Whether she’s showing off her acting chops as GoT’s Sansa Stark (now Queen of the North) or being one half of an LA power couple with fiancé Joe Jonas, the 22-year-old never fails to make viral news.
She’s not afraid to take down Piers Morgan, body shamers, and as of this week, it seems, superhero films.
Why? Because of the sexist stereotypes.
Ahead of the release of her new film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, alongside some powerhouse women from Jessica Chastain to Jennifer Lawrence, Sophie voiced her thoughts on the matter.
‘It’s true,’ she said of the moment when Jennifer Lawrence’s character Raven confronts James McAvoy’s character, Professor Charles Xavier, about the sexist noun ‘X-Men’. ’In terms of this movie all the women are saving his arse.’
Sophie continued: ‘She’s asking him to step up. We’re not going to keep saving you. It was absolutely a reason why I was so excited for this movie.
‘She’s often saying “Why are you listening to this man,”’ Sophie explained of her character’s scenes with Jessica Chastain. ‘“Are you going to be a little girl all your life or are you going to make your own rules and rebel against authority and embrace this power?”’
Like we needed another reason to love Sophie Turner!
