After teaming up with J.Cole, EARTHGANG and Saba on Dreamville’s "Sacrifices," Smino returns with an upbeat track to close out the summer. The St. Louis-born musician released his latest single "Reverend" on Thursday night, marking his first solo work of 2019. The track follows Smino’s critically-acclaimed sophomore album NOIR, which was originally conceived as a mixtape as revealed in an interview with HYPEBEAST. He also shared in a tweet that he initially wanted the song to be titled "Rev Run" but was shut down by the Run-DMC founder.
