The SEGA Dreamcast is now hitting its 20th anniversary, and with that, Archipel has just released a new Japan-centric documentary that explores the first-hand experiences from some of the biggest developers involved with the console’s games and SEGA. Joined by Kenji Kanno (Crazy Taxi), Masayoshi Kikuchi (Jet Set Radio), Yoot Saito (Seaman), and Hiroaki Yotoriyama (SoulCalibur), to name a few, the two-part documentary gives a behind-the-scenes look at what these creatives had in mind when coming up with their gaming titles for the (then) groundbreaking console.
While the Dreamcast only lasted three short years, it has amassed a cult following, and remains a pivotal piece of history (good or bad) in SEGA’s legacy. Retro gamers should make sure not to miss both parts of this mini documentary as the later parts shine some light on what the game creators felt was the reason for the Dreamcast’s demise.
