Quality Control Music’s newest project, Quality Control: Control The Streets Volume 2, has finally landed. The followup to 2017’s Volume 1, the Atlanta label’s sophomore compilation album boasts a whopping 36 tracks — six more than its predecessor — that perfectly fuse its artists’ distinctive styles with the taste of the heavy guest features. The lengthy project sees collaborations from the likes of Migos, Lil Yachty and Gucci Mane, Quavo and Meek Mill, Takeoff and Travis Scott, Offset and Playboi Carti and French Montana and City Girls.
While the contrast in techniques is greatly highlighted in this album, there’s also a very strong sense of camaraderie present throughout. The most evident example belongs to Lil Baby and DaBaby’s almost self-titled track "Baby," but more subtle ones land on tracks like Saweetie and City Girls’ female-led "Come On" and Migos’ "Stripper Bowl." Volume 2 serves as impressive material for Quality Control’s artists, but moreover, is a celebration of hip-hop’s individuality and harmony. In a genre that often partakes in unnecessary rap beefs, the essence of the project brushes ego and machismo aside, replacing it with passion, unity and talent, all for the love of the game they continually strive to be a part of.
