Måns Ericson and Nils Schéle‘s Swedish imprint Junior Executive has collaborated with the San Franciso record label Public Release for a Fall/Winter 2019 capsule collection.
The independent music platform is described as "a label for music, culture and home to degenerates." It was founded by Eugene "Eug" Whang in 2009 and has since gone on to produce individual projects that are unique to each artist it works with. As a result of its diversified catalog of talent, Public Release has produced discographies — such as its upcoming edition featuring more than two dozen contributing artists — and has hosted the likes of DJ Harvey, Virgil Abloh and Jamie XX at its FACE club nights.
Channeling Public Release’s mantra of "it’s not a genre, it’s a feeling" is the collaborative Junior Executive collection. It continues from the label’s main FW19 collection, which also featured a number of musical influences, by introducing a selection of relaxed, graphic-heavy T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and silk shirts. Ericson and Schéle are two long-standing members of the DJ scene and as a result have produced T-shirts that feature a unique DJ turntable-inspired graphic, which incorporates the acronym into its design alongside the brand’s initials.
Other notable pieces from the FW19 capsule include a hoodie sporting a hand and city skyline graphic that uses a vantage point technique, as well as the selection of silk shirts, which are covered in toucans and both of the labels’ monikers.
