Primitive Skateboarding is taking a flavorful approach to clothing collaborations, kicking off a new series of culinary-focused capsules starting with Japanese soy sauce brand Kikkoman. The collection marks the first installment of Primitive Tastes, a new initiative from the California-based brand that seeks out skate spots, hidden treasures and restaurants in different corners of the world.
The collaboration’s intentions go far beyond clothing, encouraging fans to use skating to discover unfamiliar parts of the world and to immerse in another culture — from its food to its little-known corners. Starting at the Kikkoman factory, where the brand’s soy sauce has been made for over 100 years, the video lookbook showcases a journey through the country, including top restaurants and sessions with locals.
In addition to tees, hoodies, sweatpants and socks, the Kikkoman x Primitive collection also offers a Kikkoman bottle skate deck and a chopsticks dish set. Check out the offering above and head to Primitive’s website to shop the collaboration.
