For the latest entry in our Conversations With interview series, HYPEBEAST linked up with Omar Apollo. The 21-year-old midwest native sits down to discuss his childhood, being vulnerable with his songwriting plus love and heartbreak.
One of the standout traits of Omar Apollo is his willingness to share his pain and open up about the difficult parts of his life, tackling complex subjects such as love, heartbreak, racism and so much more. Whether he’s ready or not to confront his feelings, Apollo understands the importance of expressing his emotions.
"I’ve learned a lot about that of the last couple of months, feeling what you need to feel rather than trying to suppress it," shared the rising Mexican-American singer. "You need to like cry, you need to like feel that so you can move on. And you need to talk to people too."
Earlier this year the Soulful singer-songwriter dropped his second EP, titled Friends. The six-track LP shows off his immense vocal range and songwriting abilities. Tracks like “Ashamed” and “So Good” offering up a brighter, more funkier side to Apollo’s soulful sensibilities, whereas tracks like “Friends,” “Hearing Your Voice,” and “Trouble” offers up a more solemn side to his artistic portrayal – relaying a sense of melancholy and immense sadness.
