In the world of eSports, few gamers are nearly as recognizable as Tyler Blevins, better known as Ninja. The 28-year-old has become a tremendously successful streamer within the past few years, notching plenty of accomplishments in his young career, with one major breakthrough announced earlier today.
adidas Originals has signed Ninja in a striking move that positions Blevins as the German sportswear giant’s first individual eSports partner. Though adidas already works with eSports teams like Team Heretics and Grow uP, the deal with Blevins is unique because it centers around a single gamer, instead of a group. "The partnership marks the sportswear brand’s commitment to gaming," adidas asserted in a statement. "adidas officially welcomes one of the most prolific gamers and content creators in the world to its family."
Last year, Blevins hinted at his desire to develop a footwear collaboration, a market recently explored by K-Swiss. Though no Ninja-themed kicks have been announced yet, the streamer did post a brief announcement video on his Twitter and Youtube pages. "Partnering with adidas is a chance to join a family that celebrates fellow creators at the top of their game," Blevins intones, wearing a "NINJA"-branded adidas hoodie.
