New Balance continues tweaking the classics with its revived ML650v1. The retro runner has resurfaced in a versatile colorway that highlights its forward-thinking design, with a girthy midsole that fits in neatly with the contemporary trend towards chunky sneakers.
First issued in 1995, the New Balance 650 was arguably ahead of its time, a shoe that neatly straddles the on-trend dad sneaker and progressive ’90s design. A sculpted ENCAP midsole lends wight to the angular panels on the upper, which juxtapose blue mesh and white grain leather. Blue suede on the "N" logo adds an extra hit of texture to the heavywight silhouette, complementing the blue tones in the outsole. Elsewhere, a padded tongue protects the wearer’s ankle, while a pull tab on the heel makes it easy to slip into the cushioned running sneaker.
The retro runner is available on New Balance’s site and at stockists like KITH for $99.99 USD.
Most recently, UNITED ARROWS introduced a monochromatic take on the updated New Balance 990v5.
