The fifth collaborative collection from NAPA by Martine Rose presents a Fall/Winter 2019 selection of firsts, such as womenswear, new prints and a DIY aesthetic throughout.
Martine Rose has taken traditional Napapijri pieces and reworked them with her contemporary aesthetic in mind, incorporating DIY-style design details such as hand-drawn stripes, graffiti-style leopard print, block printed graphics and skirts designed to look like repurposed sleeping bags.
The collection references everything from Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay and his signature hats to Napapijri’s archive. Fabrics including curly fleeced sherpa have been reworked into creating new wiggly striped shirts and a hoody, as has the brand’s classic cotton track pants and sweatshirts, which now feature poplin panels and a heavy dose of embroidery.
Standout pieces from the FW19 collection include red leopard print trousers, the padded flared track pants and the aforementioned striped sherpa shirt. Archive Napapijri catalog imagery and tag lines have been reintroduced as part of the collection, with slogans such as "Napa moments are happy moments" gracing the sleeves of T-shirts.
