The upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot has found its Scorpion and Shang Tsung in Chin Han and Hiroyuki Sanada, according to reports. Scorpion and Shang Tsung are two prominent figures in the Mortal Kombat franchise, each serving as the breakout character and antagonist of the series, respectively.
Han is a well-known actor in Asia known for his roles in Ghost in the Shell and The Dark Knight, meanwhile, Sanada most recently went against Jeremy Renner’s Ronin in this year’s Avengers: Endgame. The two will also be joined alongside actors Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Sisi Stringer as Mileena, and Josh Lawson as Kano.
The Mortal Kombat movie, executive produced by James Wan and directed by Simon McQuoid, is expected to release on March 5, 2021, as the film ramps up pre-production in South Australia.
In other entertainment news, Marvel’s The Eternals will feature the MCU’s first openly gay character, according to Kevin Feige.
