Earlier this year, Meghan Markle became a patron of Smartworks, an empowering charity which aims to ‘dress and coach unemployed women for job success’.
Last month she guest-edited Vogue and spoke about her work with the charity, saying: ‘When you walk into a Smart Works space you’re met with racks of clothing and an array of bags and shoes. Sometimes, however, it can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.
‘To help with this, I asked Marks & Spencer, John Lewis & Partners, Jigsaw and my friend, the designer Misha Nonoo, if they were willing to design a capsule collection of more classic options for a workwear wardrobe.
‘Taking the idea further, many of the brands agreed to use the one-for-one model: for each item purchased by a customer, one is donated to the charity.’
Now, the Duchess of Sussex has shared a behind-the-scenes video of her upcoming clothing line on her official Instagram page, @SussexRoyal.
The sneak peek was titled ‘Behind the scenes’ and revealed a little more about the collection, with a caption that read: ‘A sneak peek at the new @SmartworksCharity capsule collection shoot, ahead of the autumn launch.
‘An initiative supporting the Smart Works collective which will equip women entering the work force with the key work wear essentials they need.’
The womenswear range will include ‘classic options’ such as the black dress and white shirt featured in the clip.
It will launch in autumn in partnership with the high street stores, and we’re certain that it will be a huge hit.
