Marina del Rey’s New Date Night Destination Dives Into Mediterranean Flavors

The former Settebello, now Terzo MDR, is almost here

Marina del Rey is getting a boost of flavor on Tuesday, August 27, as Terzo MDR officially takes over for the now-closed Settebello inside the Villa Marina Marketplace. Whereas the latter was a home for casual Italian fare, Terzo is meant to be a pan-Mediterranean option with room for Spanish, Italian, and other coastal influences.

Award-winning Baltimore chef Brian Lavin will lead the new anchor tenant off Maxella Avenue, which will start with crudos and beef tartare before working into housemade pastas, pizzas, and loads of roasted vegetables. There’s also a full cocktail bar inside, and ricotta doughnuts for dessert.

The former Italian restaurant has been touched up with leather booths, long banquette seating, and an indoor-outdoor bar across 2,500 square feet. It’s more of a nip and tuck than a full studs-up remodel, with the resulting moves meant to lighten up the dining area considerably.

Terzo MDR will open on Tuesday, August 27, keeping hours from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for happy hour at the bar and on the patio, and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dinner (closed Mondays).
