Marc Jacobs Beauty Tantalize (54) Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter ($45.00 for 0.8 oz.) is a soft, golden bronze with a pearly sheen. It had very fine shimmer, so it could be easily incorporated into moisturizer or foundation, but it also had the spreadability and payoff necessary to work well as a more targeted highlighter. The consistency was smooth, lightly emollient, and spreadable, and it lived up to its “gel-cream” descriptor and having “buildable” coverage.

I had no trouble dabbing and blending out the product on my cheeks for a soft glow (along with color, as it is deeper than my skin tone; but the addition of this shade to the Dew Drops line-up is to address the lack of shades for deeper skin tones). When I mixed it in with foundation, it gave my foundation a slightly more luminous finish, though I could add enough where it gave a subtle, bronzing warmth all-over. It didn’t seem to impact the longevity of base, and as a standalone highlighter, it lasted for nine hours on me.

Formula Overview

$45.00/0.8 oz. – $56.25 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be a “gel-cream” that can be used on “the skin directly” or “added into” base products (like foundation or primer). It’s supposed to “build for the ultimate sheen.” That gel texture made it easy to spread without it sheering out immediately, but it also meant that one “pump” was far more product than one would need for spot highlighting (e.g. cheek bones, cupid’s bow, and so forth) and was more in line with what you might use to mix in with a base product.

There was a very subtle coconut scent to it, but it wasn’t particularly sweet and was more toned down compared to the Coconut Face Primer. I had no trouble blending this product out on bare skin, over liquid foundation, or patted over powder highlighter. It wore well for nine hours on me as a standalone highlighter, and it did not impact the wear of my foundation (I used it with Tarte and Guerlain).
