Plus newness in Pasadena, and charity in the South Bay
Wilshire for grabs
Longtime neighborhood Santa Monica restaurant Wilshire is for sale, per marketing materials being sent around by real estate broker Elan Kermani. Eater has confirmed that staff has been notified of the public sale, and that the property is still up and running for dinner service and weekend brunch. It’s unclear if Wilshire will continue to operate as it has before once a sale goes through, or if a new tenant will come in and take over the somewhat iconic space, with its long back patio. For now, chef Brendan Collins is still on property as he has been since 2017.
Food & Wine is out with its class of best new chefs for 2019, and among them is Brandon Go of Downtown’s hit Japanese restaurant Hayato.
Granville Pasadena arrives
The newest location of Granville is here, landing along Lake Avenue in Pasadena. The two-story space includes a rooftop bar and lounge area, with daily hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. or later most nights, and starting at 9 a.m. on weekends. This is the fifth location for Granville around Los Angeles.
The Langham hotel in Pasadena is hosting a rather fantastical (and family-friendly) Easter celebration on Sunday, April 21, complete with an egg hunt, a petting zoo, and small working train to take the kids around. There will, of course, also be brunch for $72 a head, or $35 for kids aged 4 to 12.
Delilah to Vegas
Local hotspot Delilah is coming to Las Vegas, landing an exclusive deal with the folks from the Wynn. That means the H.Wood Group team will jump their successful project to Nevada sometime next spring, taking over the current Chairman’s Salon space inside the Wynn.
Chef David LeFevre is helping out local nonprofit Growing Great on April 27. The South Bay chef is part of the group’s 20-year anniversary celebration as they continue to build school gardens around Los Angeles and beyond, mostly for low-income schools. The annual party will include a farm-to-table dinner with LeFevre and chef Neal Fraser.
Alimento is putting its patio to good use this week with a wine dinner that runs $85 a head. The Thursday night party includes four courses with wine pairings from Method Sauvage.
