July 20 will be the Moon landing‘s 50th anniversary, and to commemorate one of the most iconic moments in human history, LEGO has recreated the event in all its toy brick glory. Working with NASA, the company has recreated a detailed replica of the Apollo 11‘s Eagle lunar module. The 1087-piece set features the module set divided into its ascent and descent stages, the former holding a decorated room for two astronauts while the latter comes with gold-colored landing pads and panels, an opening camera, lazer hatches, and a ladder onto the Moon’s surface.
The set also comes fully equipped with a base plate modelled after the Moon’s surface with precise detail, down to the crater and footprints. Of course, there’s also two astronaut figures dressed in NASA space suits with golden visors, and the iconic American flag. The whole detail-accurate model measures over 7” (20 cm) high, 8” (22cm) wide and 7” (20cm) deep.
For space enthusiasts or LEGO collectors interested in the NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander, the set will be available June 1 at LEGO retail stores and its online shop for a retail price of $99.99 USD.
