After multiple full-length trailers and teasers, Toy Story 4 has finally introduced Keanu Reeves‘ Duke Caboom character.
In the new 30-second TV spot a Duke Caboom (aka Canada’s Greatest Daredevil) commercial plays showcasing all the daring stunts he is capable of doing. However in real life Caboom doesn’t seem to be pulling off all the stunts that he’s supposed to be able to, which Woody and the gang soon find out as well. "It’s a commercial, it’s not real. I can’t jump that far," Caboom claims to an unimpressed Woody.
Disney shared an official description of the character:
"DUKE CABOOM (voice of Keanu Reeves) is a 1970s toy based on Canada’s greatest stuntman. Riding his powerful Caboom stunt-cycle, Duke is always prepared to show off his stunt poses with confidence and swagger. However, Woody learns quickly that Duke has an Achilles heel: he has never been able to do the awesome stunts advertised in his own toy commercial. For years, Duke has been sitting in an antique store, constantly reliving the failures of his tragic past."
For fans that noticed, Duke Caboom made his first appearance in the Pixar Universe in the Incredibles 2 as an Easter egg. This marks the first time Reeves has full on taken up a voice acting job that involves a new character. Previously the actor voiced the animated version of Neo in The Animatrix along with Ted Logan in the Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure animated series.
Check out the new clip above and look for Toy Story 4 to arrive June 21.
Reeves will also be reprising his role as John Wick in Parabellum out May 17.
