‘That to me is so sad’
The college admissions scandal has dominated the headlines this week, with the recently unearthed scheme reportedly being the largest college admissions scandal of all time.
The scheme in question reportedly saw parents bribe school officials and college coaches to get their children into top colleges, either by cheating on standardised tests or by getting the children accepted as college athletes despite often not even playing the sport.
One of the facts of the case that made it even louder however was the famous faces involved, with Desperate Housewives actress Felicity Huffman and 90210 actress Lori Loughlin among the parents charged for their involvement in what investigators are calling ‘Operation Varsity Blues’.

The topic has become a divisive one, with people taking to Twitter to debate the severity of the situation.
One A-lister to speak out on the subject is Academy Award winner Julia Roberts, who addressed the scandal during an interview with Lorraine Kelly.
Opening up about her new film, Ben Is Back, Julia talked motherhood in depth and what a mother would do for her child, comparing aspects of the film plot to the recent college admissions cheating scandal.
‘To bring the college situation into the mix, that to me is so sad because I feel from an outsider that it says a little bit “I don’t have enough faith in you”’, the Erin Brockovich actress explained. ‘In this story, this mother is trying to say, “I have both of our faiths until you can find the faith in yourself again”.’
Speaking of herself as a mother, Julia continued: ‘From the kind of childhood I had, I raised my kids now, I don’t want them to have to have some of the struggles I had. But at the same time, you do need to know how to make your bed and how to do your laundry and how to be able to make one meal, these are important life skills.’
