Emerging Czechian designer Jan Cerny delivered one of Prague Fashion Week’s best shows, realizing his vision for youthful, boundary-pushing menswear. Proudly crafted in his native Czech Republic, Cerny’s latest release leans heavily into bold patterns and elevated workwear.
Currently working both as an intern at Louis Vuitton and an independent Czechian designer, Cerny cut his teeth with word-of-mouth seasonal presentations in 2014 before moving to the Prague Fashion Week stage. Over time, his designs shifted from trend-conscious experiments in silhouette to progressive menswear reworks, upgrading wardrobe staples with an eye for street-friendly deconstruction.
Grid patterns and bright sunbursts of contrasting color appear throughout, lending pouch-pocketed shirting and trucker-inspired denim jackets a graphic touch, further modernized with bucket hats and utility necklaces. Relaxed trousers and billowing coats slightly refine the overall aesthetic, simultaneously straddling the realms of blue collar basics (work jackets and leather overcoats) and contemporary youth essentials (slouchy mock neck sweaters and giant puffer jackets). Embossed "JAN" branding adds an extra layer of graphic appeal and functional accents, like snap button closure, dangling D-rings and holster pockets, give the goods extra depth.
The new collection will arrive at stockists like The Room by Basmatee later this year.
