With Gossip Girl and Recess reboots in the works, it makes sense that another beloved 2000s show has entered the conversation: Zoey 101. According to TMZ, the hit series which was responsible for the breakout success of Britney Spears‘ younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, could be hitting screens soon.
A Nickelodeon source shared with TMZ that Jamie Lynn "has been talking with execs about the show but it’s not a done deal." Additionally, the former lead actress would reprise her role as Zoey, but with significant changes in the dynamics of the show.
TMZ reports that the premise of the show would follow Zoey’s life in California ten years later (she’ll be 28). Notably, she’ll have children thought it’s unclear if she has a partner or if she still is attached to her past love interest, Chase. The bit about Zoey having children isn’t too far-fetched since Spears is a mother of two herself.
Earlier this month, Deadline announced that Jamie Lynn has signed on for the upcoming Netflix series Sweet Magnolias. Stay tuned here as more news emerges on the reboot of Zoey 101.
