The 2019 Met Gala is in touching distance, taking place this year on 6 May, and as always in New York City, raising funds for the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume institute.
This year’s ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ dress code is proving interesting for A-list attendees, with this year’s co-chairs alongside Anna Wintour being Lady Gaga, Serena Williams, Gucci’s Alessandro Michele and Harry Styles.
Two people who won’t be shortlisting their ‘camp’ Met Gala outfits however are Donald and Melania Trump, who it has been announced will not be invited back to the Met Gala.
Yes, the current POTUS and FLOTUS used to be regulars at the Met Gala, with Donald even proposing to Melania on the night of the event in 2004.
But according to Anna Wintour, they all not be returning.
While playing ‘Spill your guts or fill your guts’ on The Late Late Show with James Corden, host James asked Anna to either eat a pickled pig’s trotter or reveal which celebrity she would never invite back to the Met Gala.
Wisely, Anna, a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter, avoided the pig’s foot and answered, ‘Donald Trump’.
So, that’s that – no Donald and Melania at the New York event.
