Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt’s relationship has been surrounded by speculation this year, with the former couple announced to be friends after splitting 14 years ago.
The former couple broke up in 2005 after five years of marriage and have not been seen together since, but after Brad Pitt’s surprise appearance at Jen’s 50th birthday party, it has emerged that they are now good pals, reconnecting three years ago.
It was reported this month that Jen was dating again, with an unnamed source telling Entertainment Tonight that the former Friends star was back in the game.
‘The support she has had from women in her life has truly helped her move on and upward and, with lots of encouragement from friends, she finally has started dating,’ the source explained to the publication. ‘Lisa and Courteney and Jen are really close and have encouraged her to date and get out there.’
Going on to talk about Brad and Jen’s relationship, the source explained: ‘She continues to stay in touch with Brad and they occasionally talk. They both have come so far.’
This comes after years of contact, with a source telling US Weekly earlier this year: ‘Brad contacted Jen after her mom died, and she was touched that he knew what a difficult time it was. Brad wishes he’d handled the end of their marriage in a more thoughtful manner. He asked for Jen’s forgiveness a long time ago, and she gave it.’
Speaking of his attendance at Jennifer’s party, another source told E! News, ‘Someone extended the invitation to Brad to come to Jen’s party and he accepted.
‘He wanted to support Jen and it was a momentous occasion,’ the source continued. ‘But that’s the extent of it. It was a social evening with a lot of people who have been a part of her life. They definitely aren’t dating or on that path. They are friendly, but that’s it.’
Going on to talk about the former couple’s relationship, the source continued: ‘Brad and Jen talk or text once in a while. If something comes up like a birthday or a big occasion they will reach out and congratulate the other. They don’t talk or see each other all the time. They aren’t a big part of each other’s lives currently, but they wish each other well and have fond memories about the good times they had together.’
