Dreamville’s long-awaited and highly-anticipated Revenge of the Dreamers III has arrived. The new compilation project, which follows 2015’s Revenge of the Dreamers II, stays true to the series emphasis on bringing together Dreamville artists (J.Cole, Bas, J.I.D., Ari Lennox, Cozz, Lute, EarthGang, Omen, and Elite) alongside some of hip-hop’s most iconic acts. Entirely made during a 10-day recording camp in January, the project invited more than 100 artists to participate in the project and recorded nearly 120 tracks, as shared by Dreamville president Ibrahim Hamad.
The final 18-track version totes 34 artists and 27 producers boasting a heavy roster of features including Young Nudy, DaBaby, Maxo Kream, Key!, Guapdad 4000, Baby Rose, Jace, Buddy, Smino, Vince Staples, Ty Dolla $ign, Mereba, Dreezy, and many more. As is expected from the project, everything from more contemporary takes on hip-hop to soulful Motown-era hitters are laced throughout the project — every mood is thoughtfully developed, and every track grasps the attention of its listener. What’s most surprising with the album’s approach, however, is the sheer breadth of artists involved. Dreamville has opted to not just highlight A-listers, but talent from every corner of the music industry from promising up-and-comers to prominent artists, offering up and eclectic melding of sounds both new and established.
