Moments before Disney’s The Lion King made its premiere in Los Angeles, Donald Glover (who stars as Simba) took the time to sit down with Jimmy Kimmel to discuss the film, what it was like working with Beyoncé and the future of Childish Gambino.
The interview kicks off with Glover receiving a large applause from the audience as he shows up in a lion onesie. Jimmy quickly chimes in and takes some digs on his off-kilter choice of outfit. After discussing the Disney revamp, the duo discuss Glover’s moniker Childish Gambino and what lays ahead for the singer’s future. With so much music talk, it’s not surprising the topic of Beyoncé got brought up. Glover joking says "I requested not to be [in the same room" when Kimmel asks about the pair’s relationship. "I did not want to look into Beyoncé‘s eyes," he continued.
Throughout the interview, Glover also touches upon his early days writing for 30 Rock and buying Gushers. Check out the 12-minute interview above.
The Lion King releases in theaters July 18. Here are a few critic reviews of The Lion King.
