Since Choker released his Honeybloom album in August 2018, fans have patiently waited for more passionate and blissful sounds from the Detroit musician.
The three-track project titled Mono No Moto is a soothing and elegant project that mixes soul, R&B and some hip-hop together in a warm and welcoming sound that is refreshing in today’s culture of music. Fans often compare Choker’s music to Frank Ocean, and it’s easy to see why when one hears the beautiful blend of sounds and gentle flowing vocals. Choker describes his inspiration for Mono No Moto below
"There’s this moment eternalized by Pascal Maitre; 3 Equato-Guinean girls standing side by side after their first communion…Each is wearing a white dress & a distinct pair of colored sunglasses. For months I would return to the photo to take whatever it gave, often textural ideas, an occasional melody or chord. Eventually, the fragments came to be a whole & I had three projects sewn up, Mono No Moto being the first."
Choker also released a music video to one of the tracks, Petrol Bliss, featuring the musician traveling around in a car filled with potted plants and grass which is a testament to the natural and tranquil sounds of the track. Have a listen to the three-track Mono No Moto below.
