Chick-fil-A’s fried fish sandwich is returning to menus for Lent

• The fish sandwich will be available at certain Chick-fil-A locations from Wednesday until Saturday, April 20 — the day before Easter Sunday. 
• Customers can pick from the Fish Sandwich, Deluxe Fish Sandwich, or fried fish strips. 

Chick-fil-A’s Fish Sandwich is back on the menu for Lent, as fast-food chains compete to win over Catholic customers looking for meat-free options.

On Wednesday, the Fish Sandwich, Deluxe Fish Sandwich, and fried fish strips return to menus across the US. The fish sandwiches will be on the menu at certain locations from Ash Wednesday until Saturday, April 20 — the day before Easter Sunday. 

The chicken chain’s fried fish menu items are made with cod. The classic Fish Sandwich is 370 calories, while the Deluxe Fish Sandwich is 430 calories. The two-count box of fish strips are 190 calories, and the three-count box is 280 calories. 

Not every Chick-fil-A location will serve the fishy menu items. Chick-fil-A advises contacting your local restaurant to check that fish sandwiches will be available. 

Many fast-food chains promote fish sandwiches during Lent. McDonald’s helped start the trend in the early 1960s, with the creation of the Filet-O-Fish.

Other chains push vegetarian and vegan options in the 40 days leading up to Easter. Chipotle, for example, is now selling vegan and vegetarian bowls as it attempts to inform customers about its vegan protein, sofritas.
