Chef Adam Perry Lang Claims “Absolute” Innocence in Bizarre LA Arrest

A strange incident went down in Hermosa Beach over the weekend, with chef Adam Perry Lang being arrested on felony charges for allegedly making “criminal threats” while staying at a beach house belonging to Jimmy Kimmel, per TMZ. Lang’s lawyer says the incident could be a case of swatting (someone calling in a prank threat, often to the house of a celebrity), and that the person who called in the initial threat to 911 about an assault and explosives on the premises was “absolutely not” Lang himself. The APL chef is currently out on $50,000 bail, paid by Kimmel, and his lawyer says he “will be cleared of any wrongdoing” shortly. His PR team has so far declined to give a detailed statement. Goodbye El Segundo

The South Bay outpost of Samosa House has closed, reports Toddrickallen. Even as El Segundo’s restaurant scene continues to grow with names like the Slice and Pint and Jame Enoteca, it seems this popular Indian restaurant mini-chain couldn’t last through two years.

Great news

The staff-up is underway at Antico, chef Chad Colby’s near-Larchmont Italian strip mall spot. The first big name? Kevin Caravelli, who is coming from New York City where he was the service director at the NoMad there.

Coffee newcomer

Bloom and Plume, a coffee and flower shop, is now open off Temple in Historic Filipinotown. They’re doing daily hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1638 W. Temple Street.

No more Testa

Twitter account DTLAer has news on Testa in South Park, Downtown. The Italian option is all the way gone, it seems, with a notice of eviction pasted to the front door.

Ramen arrival

Tatsu Ramen is readying for a new location in Pasadena, right on S. Arroyo Parkway. The strip mall address already has signage up, though it’s unclear when exactly they’ll be open for business. The company already has locations on Melrose, Sawtelle, and in New York City. Eater reached out, but has not heard back.
