Blog: Who What Wear cofounder lists stylishly updated Spanish Colonial for $8M

Sure to win a spot on many a “House Goals” Pinterest board is the just-listed residence of digital media maven Katherine Power and her editorial photographer husband, Justin Coit.

CEO and cofounder of Clique, the company behind influential fashion brand Who What Wear and the home and lifestyle site My Domaine, Power and her husband purchased the Little Holmby property just over three years ago.

Built in 1928, the Spanish Colonial had a lot going for it, Power tells Curbed. Along with the proverbial good bones, the home was well-sited.

“It’s in the flats, but on a knoll—the back of the house overlooks Century City, so you get nice views,” says Power. “I also thought it had a beautiful front approach. It’s set far back from the street, and you pass through a lovely courtyard to reach the house.”

Beyond the courtyard, however, there was much room for improvement, as previous listing photos illustrate. The couple brought in designer Jake Arnold of 4C Design Group to conduct an overhaul, with smashing results that made the pages of Architectural Digest.

As part of its transformation, the 4,085-square-foot residence was outfitted with wide-plank oak floors, new French doors, an open-plan kitchen, luxurious new bathrooms, ebonized bookcases, and custom light fixtures.

The project’s biggest challenge, and its most rewarding, according to Power, was the backyard makeover, which entailed moving the swimming pool to make space for entertaining and lounging areas, and installing mature olive trees.

“The trees had to be lifted over the house with a crane,” Power recalls. “That was a scary day.”

But the trouble was all worth it, she says.

“When you’re in the backyard, you don’t know you’re in LA—it feels like you’re in Montecito,” Power says.

But Power isn’t one to shy away from a challenge.

“This is our fourth house in six years,” she tells Curbed. “We love a project, we love the process. That being said, this house is going to be very hard to say goodbye to.”

On a .32-acre lot, the property is listed with an asking price of $7.995 million.
