It was certainly a year to remember at your L.A. Taco — we relaunched as a news site, brought more contributors on board, and generally shook up the landscape of independent journalism in Southern California.
It wasn’t easy, and we weren’t totally sure how local readers would respond. But little by little, more of you came our way for top-notch taco and news coverage. We grew exponentially and organically, expanding our audience by 500 percent (!) on the homepage alone. And by the end of the year, L.A. Magazine named us the “future of alternative journalism” in Los Angeles. Not too shabby.

Along the way, we’ve honed our voice. Managing Editor Erick Galindo earlier remarked that it boils down to this: “Tacos and everything else that matters in Los Angeles.” That about captures it, right? Whether it was the turmoil at LA Weekly, the walkouts and demonstrations against the crimes of the Trump administration, or latest exceptional taco offerings on the streets of your city, the Taco was there.
So for our final feature of 2018, here is our video recap for our L.A. Taco Year in Review. Watch above, and watch to the end of it for a few exclusive announcements about 2019.
Happy New Year, El Lay!! Thank you for joining us for the ride in 2018, and we hope you stay with us in 2019, and beyond. Now … Vamos a taquear!
