Generally speaking, I try to head into sales season with a strategy: Stick to the items which were already saved to my wish lists, hedge my bets on how deeply they’ll be discounted and only buy things I really love. This has kept me from impulse buying things that I won’t actually wear just because the price is appealingly low.
But somehow, these velvet, bow-bedecked flats from Tory Burch had escaped my radar — which seems impossible given that they tick just about every box on my must-have list. I’d seen them, or a variation on them, on bloggers like Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam and Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific; I thought they were perfect for me, but somehow I forgot to follow up on buying them. Then I went hunting down another Tory Burch style — the excellent Elodie mule — and there they were, the beautiful Clara flats on sale (!) with an additional discount taken at checkout.
Following the advice of reviews, I went up a half size and they’re a dream. I grabbed one of the last pairs in black, knowing that they would work with just about everything in my wardrobe, but I’m still eying the bordeaux and navy colors, too. They’re just that good.
