A single-story commercial building near the Red Line in East Hollywood is slated for redevelopment with a mixed-use apartment complex.
The property, located at 4632-4644 W. Santa Monica Boulevard, is slated for the construction of a seven-story structure that would feature 177 residential units and 5,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space.
The entitlement application, which was filed yesterday with the City of Los Angeles, calls for development incentives through the Transit Oriented Communities guidelines, meaning some of the apartments would be reserved as affordable housing.
Property records list the owner of the approximately 40,000-square-foot site as a La Canada-based entity called Union Discount Ltd. The company currently operates a swap meet out of the property, which is also home to the Korean restaurant Nabi.
The development site is located a block east of Metro’s Vermont/Santa Monica Station, where Little Tokyo Service Center is planning a mixed-use affordable housing development.
A block north, a new pocket park is under construction at a long-vacant property on Madison Avenue.
