Construction is now underway for a new pocket park on a long-vacant lot in East Hollywood.
The quarter-acre property, located at 1175 N. Madison Avenue, will be improved with public green space and a new community garden. The Trust for Public Land is partnering on the project with City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Garden Council on the project, which will include a playground, fitness equipment, a basketball court, and a community garden with a garden house.
The Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks will manage the Madison Avenue Park upon completion.
Completion of the $2.18-million park is anticipated in June 2019.
In 2015, the Trust for Public Land completed another pocket park in Hollywood on a vacant lot on Carlton Way.
