Pat McGrath is at it again, kids: Before jetting off to Europe for the Men’s and Couture shows, she stopped by New York to announce some fresh beauty drops under her flourishing beauty empire, Pat McGrath Labs.
First up? Mascara. Really, really good mascara! Dubbed “FetishEyes” and intended to create impactful “doll” lashes, it’s the formula the makeup artist relied on for recent runway shows for Prada’s Spring 2019 collection and Versace’s Pre-Fall 2019 one.
McGrath has launched a mascara in the past, debuting it as part of the Dark Star Collection back in August of 2017, but this new formula marks the brand’s first stand-alone lash formula that will remain part of its permanent offerings — big news for those already addicted to McGrath’s sought-after eye palettes, highlighters and lipsticks.
“Designed to entice the beauty obsessed, this haute hardcore mascara was developed for makeup artists by makeup artists and was relentlessly tested both backstage and on set,” said McGrath in a release announcing the product’s launch.
The formula packs plenty of length, volume and fullness, without becoming rigid or dry. I’m also into the brush, which is a slightly bulky, tightly-packed bristle spoolie, intended to grab on to lashes and create lift, fullness and length as you swipe. Pat McGrath FetishEyes will be launching (just in time for Valentine’s Day) on Feb. 14 at PatMcGrath.com and will retail for $28.
I was lucky enough to get to test out the formula ahead of its launch during a press event, and I’m already hooked. I’m particularly picky about mascara because I absolutely hate clumps and have sensitive eyes that don’t respond well to flaky formulas that are too stiff or heavy. From here on out, FetishEyes is the mascara I’ll be reaching for when I want a little more drama and oomph than my subtler everyday formula can deliver. And I’m not the only one — it’s partly responsible for Lili Reinhart‘s epic Golden Globes beauty moment this past Sunday (above), where she wore the mascara paired with a red smoky eye.
In addition to the exciting mascara launch, McGrath is also expanding upon her brand’s already bountiful lip offerings, introducing 18 new shades of Lust: Gloss, bringing the range to a whopping 32 shades in varying finishes. The new hues include nudes, pinks, browns and a few unexpected holographics that make for particularly stunning lipstick toppers. The new lip glosses will be available for $28 each on Jan. 17 at noon EST on PatMcGrath.com.
