Police responded to Port of Los Angeles High School in San Pedro regarding a social media post on Wednesday, Dec. 19, but determined that there was no danger to students or faculty.
School administrators immediately notified Los Angeles Port Police upon learning of the post at about 3:30 p.m., said POLA High Principal George Mora in a recorded statement. The post “caused some serious concern,” he said.
Mora said officers spoke with students involved with the post as well as their families, and did not identify a direct threat to the campus.
The school was not placed on lockdown, said Phil Sanfield, a spokesman for the LAPP.
Classes will continue as scheduled Thursday, Dec. 20, but the persons associated with the post will not be on campus that day, according to Mora. He said decisions regarding possible disciplinary penalties for the students involved were pending the completion of a police investigation.
Additional information regarding the content and circumstances of the post or the identities of the students behind it were not immediately released.
